They should put some songs that have soul to it. Use some legend characters like Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, BB King, Santana. Blues has some sick guitar soloes. This is just a suggestion. Mayba there should be a blues edition of guitar hero that would be sweet!

I seriously think most of you ppl haven’t even read the opening post mentionning “..and therefore cannot actually grant song requests. I will, however, try and forward your requests to someone who might be able to make them a reality.” and there’s like this whole page of dumb requests of sometimes 2, 3 or even 4 songs from the same band, or bands that already have songs confirmed in the GH3 track list, or pseudo-pop money-whore bands like Atreyu or Billy Talent. It’s not like your wishlist to Santa… and asking things like Cradle of Filth from the Midian album doesn’t fit the “legends of rock” neither. I listen to mostly anything that’s called music from metal, punk rock, even some rap and sometimes radio shit but there are definitely things I’d not want to see in this track list. It would be sure great if it counted things like Stairway to Heaven, some Ozzy stuff or AC/DC, old-school kinda music.. think first (i mean not like a teenaged retard) => then post a reply

Second, to the author of the site, you really need to update your list of songs, you forgot one of the best songs on there. Third, if you look at the title ‘Legends of Rock’, modern, as in released 3 months ago, won’t be on it. Finally, if your an idiot and do put song lists up, don’t put the same band more than once, because they won’t be looked at.

Request all the songs you want. Fact of the matter is this will not do no good. For one the set list has been finalized the game is basically finished. So this constant stream of posts saying “Oh tell them to put this on… I want that.. etc etc” is futile =x. Lastly this is the ‘unoffical’ fan website.. so more then likely the owner of this website has absolutely nothing to do with the game whatsoever.
The guys over as scorehero played the final game and already confirmed all of the songs on the list above.. along with about 50 others they cant even say yet… and the bonus songs are NOT in-house bands like when harmonix was developing the game.. so you wont be seeing unfamiliar indy bands… more along the lines of the bonus songs like Shadows Fall and Black Label Socity.
One fictional guitarist, Slash and one more boss.. though no one seems to know who this other boss is.. my educated guess would be Eddie from Iron Maiden fame… ooor Kirk from Metallica (using One as the final song that you encore with him in)

I saw a few mentions for Bleeding Mascara by Atreyu which is a great one another one by them would be Her Portrait in Black. I usually pop in the custom disc before going out. When I get home and am wasted I throw on a custom Satriani disc. Cryin’ is probably one of the funnest to play when you’re smashed.

I would love Stairway to Heaven to be on the the game, or any other Led Zep song because i doubt it will happen. They have a history of not letting people use their songs. Jack Black had to beg on his knees so they could get the Immigrant Song, and Waynes World got permission to use only the first two notes of Stairway to Heaven, an 8 minute song. I, know this ain’t what you wanna hear, but its reality.

Lest you guys forget… Harmonix is also making Rock Band AND this game is intended for EVERYONE… which means A) Most songs that have cussing in them will most likely NOT end up in the game and B) If you have a song that you like that isn’t gonna end up on GH3 it’ll prob be on Rock Band… Enter Sandman by Metallica for instance… check up on your **** guys and at least use some friggin common sense.

Im kinda upset with the playlist on guitar hero 3. Some songs are gunna be fun to play…but alot of them i don’t consider “legendary”. If they were going to make the playlist legendary…they should of atleast put some more pantera,tool,pink floyd,the doors…or etc. Maybe they should come out a classic rock edition of guitar hero. yeah i don’t like afi at all. the killers, it could’ve been a different song. like somebody told me that would’ve been way better. now the fact that i love this game is tenacious d and slayer on the same game. that’ll rock my world. believe me you have to embrace all kinds of music which is the jist that guitar hero is gettin at. why else would they add all this other music. it’s to expand horizons with music. instead of being 2 dimensional and listening to the same crap over and over again oh by the way which 97.475986% of today’s crap is. fuckin pop. anyways foghat, heart (again), and i already played the demo which battle mode is sick. lay down is probably my favorite guitar hero song now and priestess is intense.

Another Wikipedia update. Looks like they did try and get AC/DC and Led Zepplin, but was only able to get Metallica. 73 songs as of 21 Oct 07. Hope there are a few more to give us all a little bit of a suprise. I am honesly amazed at the hard work these guys have done to aquire the songs and master tracks to these songs. If this is any example of the direction that the Guitar Hero franchise is heading, I wouldn’t be suprised that Guitar Hero 4 is being worked on as I type this. WOOOOW…I can understand if they cant get Zeppelin and AC/DC because they wont even give their songs to iTunes, but it is absolutely ridulous that there are very few bands that are actually “Legends of Rock” in a game called “Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock.” Sure, they got the Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, Rage Against the Machine, Smashing Pumpkins, Guns N’ Roses, and Pearl Jam…but honestly, do the makers of GH3 think that Pat Benatar, Disturbed, and the Hellacopters are legendary? I am definitely happy with the song list because about 90% of the songs are great, but I expected more songs on the list. If the makers of GH3 cant get at least a Jimi Hendrix song on the list then the fans really have a reason to be dissapointed. The fact that they got Hendrix for GH1, which was not even a popular and anticipated game at the time, and didn’t get him for GH3 is a major let-down. Aside from that, they did a good job. Hopefully they will have another surprise in the set list this week.

Theres a few good songs on the list, but guitar hero never ceases to diasappoint me when they always choose the most popular, overrated songs for the game. You know since the game’s called “guitar hero” why don’t they include a few of the truly great guitar songs (and more actually from the 80’s unlike some of their other choices).

First things first. To those who are asking why some of the classics are not being added to the game. Simple. Copyright release. Many of the bands requested are simply refusing to release the rights to their songs to Red Octane (for what reason, I haven’t a clue). Not really much they can do if the bands won’t let them use their songs. Don’t get me wrong, I would love to see some AC/DC, more Metallica, and more Pantera but if they’re being stubborn, oh well.
Second, even if they do get the bands to agree, the lyrics have to come into consideration. Anytime the “F” word is used in a game, it almost always makes the game rating change to “Mature”. If they have to rate the game “M”, although it’s not an issue in most situations for people to get the game with that rating even if they’re not of age, and the demand is high enough, store owners will be forced to ID everyone coming in to buy the game which will limit how many they are able to sell.
And why would they include songs from System of a Down, Green Day, and Slipknot? The name of the game is Guitar Hero 3: Legends of Rock. Who here considers any of the late 90’s-2000’s bands “legendary”? None of them are even close to that status yet.

Also, not even sure how Smashing Pumpkins, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Beastie Boys, and Tenacious D made it on the list for Legends. Not saying they’re bad, but if they were going to stick with the true Legends, I would copy Yeti’s list, song for song

Ok, first of all, the “song” by Rush is 2112, It’s a rock opera, not just a single song.
It’s not 2021 as has been written a few times, and it’s broken down into several sections, the most famous being “Temple of Syrinx”. The entirety of the Opera takes far too long for any company to seriously wish to include. (20 min 37 sec) If we’re going to add epic length songs, let’s go ahead and add Alice’s Restaurant Massacre” by Arlo Guthrie. While it is significantly shorter than 2112, it has a great story, and is one that everyone can appreciate.
If you’re going to request a song (any song), get the bloody name right. Youth is no excuse. Pick up an album and read sometime. It’ll do you some good, and you might even be accidentally enlightened.
I would gladly play more classic hits from truly legendary artists, and I would go so far as to purchase them for download from the Playstation Network for my PS3, if they were offered. I would like to see all of the tracks previously offered on Guitar Hero 1 and 2 offered for individual purchase, or “power pack” purchase. This would allow people to upgrade to the new stuff, and get their old favorites onto their new systems.
If I were to add anything, I would be tempted to add YES, simply because of Chris Squire and his infinitely amazing Bass skills. Take your pick of songs. Roundabout is a clear and popular example, but there are so many others.
My wife and kids play Singstar, and the same song purchase system could and should be used for those tracks as well. I would gladly throw another $100 toward the purchase of new songs for both games.
I just heard that there will be different bonus characters for the PS2 and Wii than for the PS3 and XBox360. Pardon my French, but what a load of bollocks. The only difference between the games should be what console it is on. I’m sure other PS2 only owners will agree with me that the PS2 is being descriminated against! Giving us a different controller because we’re ‘not good enough’ for the Les Paul and now different characters too! In the words of Basil Fawlty, ”You BASTARDS!!!”

Alright so I just beat Slash (supposedly the hardest battle on the game) yeah all ya gotta do is keep the fucker from getting any battle powers. What I did was I got one right, k so he got like a “double” or a “whammy” that was cool, I kept going and got another battle power. So now I have 2 battle powers. As I kept playing my side, yet watching his, I threw him a “**** up” just as I say him about to get a few battle icons, threw him the 2nd one…and he never got any battle power….Well thats all kids…thats how u beat him, keep 2 at first, and try ur damnedest to keep up, played on all levels (esay, med etc.) GOOD LUCK!!

just for anyone else who leaves a list or comment: they dont just put random rock songs on there, the songs that make these lists aren’t always popular, or maybe never even been heard, but they all have either a kick ass opening riff or a hard-as-hell solo, and a few have both. so don’t just throw out songs. honestly, whats the point in playing a song like crazy bitch, when u barely even hear the guitar in it? really, its called guitar hero, not rock song hero. and for the people who would hate it if they put someone like avenged sevenfold on there: yea, you might not like the band, their songs, or their guitar tone, but they have a few songs like blinded in chains that have a challenging solo at the beginning, and towards the end, of the song. not to mention a pretty awesome chorus.
